Horndean Events Calendar: October 2026 to Summer 2027
Recurring and upcoming events in and around Horndean, from Butser Ancient Farm and Clanfield Observatory to Remembrance, fireworks and village fairs, as published by each organiser.
Listed dates include Roman reenactment weekends and The Butser Gathering (14 November) at Butser Ancient Farm, ticketed Clanfield Observatory open evenings from 17 October 2026, and the Rowlands Castle fireworks on Saturday 7 November 2026. For Horndean's own 2026 Remembrance and carol dates, check Horndean Parish Council.
What is on in Horndean this autumn and winter?
This calendar pulls together what each organiser has published on its own website as of 5 October 2026. We list a date only where the organiser gives one. Where an event usually happens but a 2026 or 2027 date is not listed, we say where to check. Some events are in neighbouring villages rather than Horndean itself, and we say where.
What is on at Butser Ancient Farm?
Butser Ancient Farm lists a long run of workshops and shows on its events page. In October it has Roman reenactment weekends on 17 to 18 October and 31 October to 1 November, with the Butser IX Roman Legion, and storytelling evenings with Jason Buck on 16 and 17 October from 7pm. Its Time Traveller Holiday Club for 6 to 13 year olds runs from 26 to 30 October. Bronze casting workshops run through October, November and December, and a hedgerow wreath workshop is on 28 November and 5 December. On 14 November it lists The Butser Gathering from 11am to 8pm, and on 3 December a harp evening with Keziah Thomas. Jason Buck returns with The Horns of Yule on 18 December. Looking further ahead, the page lists a Boudicca storytelling evening on Friday 5 February 2027, and drum making weekends on 24 to 25 April and 14 to 15 August 2027. Prices and booking are on each event's page. The farm is at PO8 0BG, and our Butser Ancient Farm visitor guide covers a visit.
Can I visit Clanfield Observatory this winter?
Yes, but tickets go fast. The Hampshire Astronomical Group open evenings page lists public evenings at 7:15pm on 17 and 18 October, 21 and 22 November and 19 and 20 December 2026, then 16 and 17 January, 13 and 14 February, 27 and 28 February, and 13 and 14 March 2027. Two adults-only evenings follow on 10 and 11 April 2027 at 7:45pm. On 5 October 2026 the October, November and December dates were marked sold out, and some 2027 dates were still available. The group says it publishes new dates around mid-April and mid-September each year. It also holds monthly public talks at Clanfield Memorial Hall at 8:00pm on Fridays, with entry listed as £4 for non-members. The listed dates are 13 November and 11 December 2026, then 8 January, 12 February, 12 March, 9 April, 14 May, 11 June and 9 July 2027, with the 9 October 2026 talk shown as to be announced. See our Clanfield village guide.
When is Remembrance Sunday in Horndean?
For 2026 details, watch Horndean Parish Council's news page. Its 2025 notice shows how it usually works. The service and parade took place in Horndean Square on Sunday 9 November 2025, with Havant Road, London Road, Portsmouth Road and Five Heads Road closed from 10am until noon and Blendworth Lane closed from 9.45am until 1pm. In Clanfield, Clanfield Memorial Hall says the annual village Remembrance Sunday service is held there.
Where are the bonfire night fireworks?
A dated display is listed in Rowlands Castle. The Rowlands Castle Association's fireworks page says the display is on Saturday 7 November 2026, entry by ticket only, with gates open at 5.30pm and the display starting at 7pm. Tickets are £9 for adults and £4 for children, infants need a free ticket, and tickets are non-refundable. It says tickets are sold on cards at Rowlands Castle Hardware and Londis only, with no online tickets, and that the event would be delayed to Saturday 14 November if the weather is unsuitable. It asks people to walk, cycle or take the train, as there is no parking at the event.
What Christmas events are coming up?
Check each organiser for 2026 Christmas dates. Horndean Parish Council's Carols in the Square page shows the 2025 event on Tuesday 9 December at 6.30pm, so check that page for 2026. The Rowlands Castle Association's events page says Carols on The Green, with the Blendworth Brass Band, happens late in December, with no 2026 date given. St James Church in Clanfield has a Carols on the Green 2025 page on A Church Near You, so check there too. Butser Ancient Farm's wreath, tree ornament and storytelling events above are the dated festive events listed. For events at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, check hants.gov.uk before you go, and see our Queen Elizabeth Country Park guide.
What is on in spring and summer 2027?
Organisers' pages give only a few spring and summer 2027 dates. The Rowlands Castle Association says its village fair is held on the first Saturday in July, its Mayday Picnic on the early May bank holiday and its annual meeting each February. Horndean Parish Council's page on its nature reserves says the Living Woodland Fair takes place each May at Catherington Lith, but gives no 2027 date. The parish council's events page lists Council Meetings at Jubilee Hall on 2 November and 7 December 2026, 1 February, 1 March and 5 April 2027, and Finance and General Purposes Committee meetings on 12 October and 23 November 2026, then 25 January and 22 March 2027. Check each listing before you go.
